Celebrating Women’s History Month 2026:
A Group Exhibition of The Garage Art Center Artists

In Presence, We Persist brings together 18 women artists affiliated with The Garage Art Center for a group exhibition introducing their work to a New Jersey audience. This exhibition marks the third chapter in a Women’s History Month group exhibition series previously presented at the Queens Art Center and the Steinberg Museum of Art on Long Island, continuing its trajectory while expanding to a new region and audience.

Presented in March, in celebration of women’s history and the present moment, the exhibition quietly yet resolutely reflects on what it means to continue—to remain present and to move forward—within an art world shaped by material pressures and competitive structures.

Life in the arts is rarely easy. For women artists who are also working professionals, educators, and caregivers, the act of continuing can itself be an achievement. In Presence, We Persist reflects this shared reality. The artists gathered here do not stand alone; they stand together—as friends, colleagues, and fellow creators— encouraging and supporting one another as they move forward collectively.

The exhibition foregrounds presence not only as physical attendance, but as an emotional and ethical commitment: to one’s practice, to one another, and to community. Through diverse media and visual languages, the works speak to endurance, mutual support, and the belief that persistence is sustained collectively. In this sense, the exhibition becomes more than a presentation of artworks—it emerges as a social safety net formed through art, a living and interconnected community.

It is especially meaningful that artists affiliated with The Garage Art Center, based in Queens, reunite at Space G within Mana Contemporary in Jersey City, following earlier group exhibitions at the Queens Art Center and the Steinberg Museum of Art. This gathering represents a moment of expansion—extending artist-centered values and a community-driven vision beyond geographic boundaries, while opening new dialogues between spaces and audiences.

In Presence, We Persist is both a celebration and a declaration:
