How can art help us see the world through someone else’s eyes?

In this family-friendly workshop, art therapist Betsy Jones guides participants in a creative exploration of empathy and understanding.

Working in pairs, participants will imagine and illustrate “a mile in another’s shoes”—creating artwork that reflects how they perceive one another’s experiences. Expanding on the metaphor, each person will be invited to visualize the shoes, the journey, and the destination.

As the group shares and reflects on these artworks, new stories and insights emerge, revealing how we connect, interpret, and understand others. Through this imaginative process, participants will practice active empathy—recognizing assumptions, engaging authentically, and discovering the beauty of seeing beyond oneself.

All materials will be provided.
